For the 2011 Season the Atlantic Salmon Reserve introduced an incredibly exciting new fishing programme for the final three autumnal weeks on the Atlantic Salmon Reserve. Guests were given the opportunity, over the course of a 6-day fishing week, to spend two days each fishing the Kharlovka, Litza & Rynda Salmon Rivers. Veterans of these rivers will know quite how exciting and varied these rivers are and with all this water shared by just 16 rods in total the scope is immense! WhereWiseMenFish Hosted Week 25 August-1 September 2012Justin Maxwell Stuart will be hosting the first of the autumnal ‘Three River’ weeks over the period above. As part of the conservation programme the Atlantic Salmon Reserve has taken the decision to rest all the rivers for the two weeks prior to these weeks. Not that it should be necessary to emphasise this however from 11-25 August the rivers will be 100% rested and totally unfished giving the lucky team on the ‘opening week’ an unparalleled opportunity to experience some potentially explosive fishing. Our Testimonials - Rynda Week -August 21-28 2010
"After difficult weeks of waiting we were finally at the Rynda Camp. There we got a very warm and friendly welcome from the good people there, Kola, Katya, Justin, Anya and others. The location of the camp is perfect, overlooking the home pool and made us want to jump into our fishing outfit and start fishing immediately...which we did!. The river conditions were perfect, water level, temperature and the river was full of salmon and trout. One of the treasures of the camp are the guides, they know every inch of the river, recommending places, tactics, flies and they take very good care of you by the river. Our guide Yuri was amazing and we can thank him a lot for the many fish that we caught this week. Rynda river has all types of pools, we could fish with single and double handed rods, though we preferred the double handed. We fished from Rynda Lake all the way down to Rock Island below the Home Pool. There were amazing places like the Reindeer Crossing, Power Pool, Second Waterfall, Red Creek, Horseshoe, Five Pools and Norway Pool. We saw or hooked salmon in every pool we tried fishing but the most fun place was probably the Horseshoe pool where we saw a monster and we had to run twice after salmon down the rapids to the next pool. We also saw very big fish in Rebecca, Norway and Picnic Island. We caught 36 fish this week, more than half were 10 pounds or bigger and 7 fish were between 16 and 22 pounds. Almost all the fish were caught on the Icelandic fly called Snælda in the German flag colours and on sinking tip lines. What was amazing was that a good few of the fish we caught had been caught, tagged and released previously. ‘Catch and release’ definitely works. This week was very memorable to us because of the river, accommodations and the nice people we met there. We will most certainly be back" Elvar Thor Asgeirsson - Iceland If you would like to know more about the trip, please contact us and we will provide you with more details. Background reading for your trip:"The Domesday Book of Giant Salmon" by Fred Buller (Hardcover)Our Comments:"Obviously some very extensive research has been carried out to produce this excellent book. Its big in form, big in fish and big in information along with some fantastic photography. It certainly is not a bedside reading book due to its size. Its a must for anyone who gets turned on by large salmon.(Is there a salmon fisherman that isn't!! The book is about the famous Atlantic Salmon and the even more famous rivers they inhabit. It does not pretend to be a Salmon fishermans bible however it has some wonderful pictures of many of the best known Atlantic Salmon rivers with accompanying articles, many by famous names who are associated or connected with the various rivers covered in the book.
