Clare Brownlow Feather Art

Clare Brownlow is a an artist with a huge difference. She creates her original artwork with the sole use of a pheasants tail feather and inks. The technique was created by Clare, 14 years ago in her parents kitchen, when she took a feather from a jug of tail feathers and started to use her father’s fountain pen ink to “doodle”. The rest is history as they say. She cuts the feather like a quill and then dips the end in the ink and starts to paint and draw with the feather. When the feather is dragged across the page, the point of the quill scratches the surface and in turn catching on the roughness of the surface, skips across the page resulting in an array of directional splatters. This gives the subject matter movement and a huge amount of energy.

Brownlow has exhibited globally and sold her works in New York, LA, London, Singapore, Hong Kong and more. She has been shortlisted twice for Wildlife Artist of The Year. She has had solo shows in London and Edinburgh and has had collaborations with the likes of Purdey, Pol Roger and Schoffel amongst others.

Not only do we think her artwork is fantastic, but Clare has been an enormous supporter of the sort of enviromental wildlife charities that in many instances are the first or only line of defence for such casuses.

In the 14 years of painting with this technique of painting she has raised close to £100,000.00 for various charities close to her heart, including the Atlantic Salmon Trust (AST), Tusk Trust, GWCT and many more wildlife charities.
