The Environment & LocationLamu archipelago is located in the Indian Ocean close to the northern coast of Kenya. Manda Island is one of the largest islands on which Manda Bay Resort is situated, a 10-minute boat ride from Lamu town. It specialises in providing the personalized family touch that hotels aspire to. The accommodation consists of 16 en-suite bedroom bungalows with overhead ceiling fans inside spacious mosquito nets. Choose from and receive instruction in an array of water sports including windsurfing, sailing, waterskiing and kayaking. A fleet of boats and skiffs is also on hand to take guests snorkelling, bird watching and on excursions to the 11th Century ruins of ancient Takwa or to Lamu town. Each evening sundowners are arranged whether they be on the beautifully restored dhow, Utamaduni or elsewhere on the island. Alternative Activities Whilst in KenyaKenya is a superbly diverse country and any trip lends itself to a mixed package. These might include safaris to either the Masai Mara or one of the private reserves such as that at Lewa Downs or Laikipea. Regular open top game drives come as standard although the more adventurous might undertake a camel or horse-riding safari, Trout fishing on the Lakes of Mount Kenya or the rivers and streams of the Aberdare National reserve as well as bird shooting.
