North Western British Columbia is home to all five species of Pacific salmon and steelhead. Chinook, coho, pink, sockeye and chum salmon all run these rivers in abundance. Most importantly, it offers uncrowded fishing which is typical of the rivers in the South of British Columbia. Owned and run by Gill and Tanya McKean, Westcoast Fishing Adventures, provides the perfect base from which you will have access to over thirty rivers, streams and lakes located on three completely different watersheds. You will have the choice of fishing on the either the Skeena River, Nass River and the Kitimat, including all their tributaries. Each river gets a different run of fresh fish, so there is great flexibility in being able to select the most productive rivers during your stay. With such a wide variety of great rivers to choose from, you will always be able to have access to outstanding fishing. These rivers have long been touted in fishing circles for their quality and variety of fishing. However, the real potential is only realised when fishing either with Gill McKean or one of his guides. The whole team have a reputation based on expertise and professionalism that are unsurpassed in the area and they are without doubt the guide of choice in this region. Steelhead Camp
The LodgeLocated amidst 30 acres of private property, the lodge is a typical West Coast-style guesthouse. The lodge is set up to cater for small groups of up to five guests who are accommodated in either two twin or one single room with a double bed. Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. There is a sauna to revitalise cold bones after a long day on the water and a dedicated chef ensures that you are well sustained. The lodge has wireless Internet connection and most mobile phones should have coverage. The emphasis at the lodge is very much one of home-from-home. A place where you can relax, revitalise, harness some creative inspiration behind the vice on the fly-tying bench or simply enjoy a glass of wine and discuss plans for the following day. Best Times to GoThe fishing season typically runs from March to December, with the special Nass River steelhead camp expeditions starting in September and ending in November. The following is a summary of fish species by month:
